Plagiarism detection and originality reports
All manuscripts submitted for review are inspected by a disciplined anti-plagiarism policy that ensures the originality of the articles. For this purpose, the Turnitin tool is used, which analyzes the texts in search of grammatical and orthotypographic coincidences, which guarantees that the papers are unpublished and ensures compliance with the editorial quality standards that guarantee the authors' own scientific production.
Once the submitted text has been processed by the tool, Turnitin provides the user with a Similarity Report. This is a summary of the text that matches or is similar to that contained in other documents in the database. For this purpose, it uses a color system that corresponds to the degree of similarity found. Depending on the amount of matching text, the range of percentages varies between 0% and 100%.
In this sense, authors will undertake to reduce the similarity index of their work to less than 15%, paying special attention to the parts that Turnitin has found similar to other published academic works.
