Informal trade in public spaces in the city of Ambato

Abstract

The objective of this work was aimed at knowing the situation of informal commerce in public spaces in the city of Ambato. The applied methodology was of a qualitative approach with a non-experimental cross-sectional design, a survey was applied to 1565 people who carry out work activities and who are not registered that circulate around 10 commercial sectors of the city. Among the main results, it was found that the informal sale days are mostly on Mondays with 20%, therefore, it was obtained that 47% work the full day, among the products to be marketed, it stands out that 26% sell vegetables and 15% clothing, on the other hand, the places with the most trade were Primero de Mayo and its surroundings (33%), Tomas Sevilla (25%) and Mercado Modelo (17%) and the profit of a non-regularized self-employed trader at 78% is $ 50 a week. It is concluded that non-regularized commerce is permanent on every day of the week, but prevails on fair days in the city of Ambato. In addition, with regard to the schedule it is prevalent throughout the day, the products that are sold the most are vegetables and vegetables followed by fruits and prepared products, the place where commerce is most concentrated is in the central area of the city.
