Musicoterapia en la rehabilitación neurológica del Alzheimer: Una revisión bibliográfica

Resumen

La enfermedad de Alzheimer (EA) es una enfermedad neurodegenerativa, progresiva e irreversible que afecta a más de 50 millones de personas en el mundo y se prevé que en 2050 esta cifra se triplique. Se caracteriza por un deterioro de las funciones cognitivas, del bienestar emocional y la calidad de vida. La musicoterapia se ha postulado como una intervención no farmacológica prometedora, basándose en que la memoria musical se preserva en los pacientes con EA. Se realizó una búsqueda sistematizada en las bases de datos PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science y PsycINFO, utilizando términos como “musicoterapia”, “enfermedad de Alzheimer” y “rehabilitación neurológica”. Se incluyeron todos los estudios publicados entre 2010 y 2023 en las lenguas inglesa y española que evaluaban los efectos de la musicoterapia en los pacientes con EA. La metodología PRISMA guió el proceso de selección y análisis de los artículos, poniendo especial énfasis en la evaluación de la calidad metodológica que se lleva a cabo con herramientas propias, como la escala Cochrane y AMSTAR-2. Finalmente, integrar la musicoterapia en las prácticas de atención clínica y participar en el entorno comunitario son formas de mejorar la atención a las personas con EA y sus cuidadores.
