Abstract

Innovation is important for the economic and social dynamics and has been placed as a key factor both at company level and at the country level. At the company level, the role of innovation stands out because of the contributions it makes both to productivity and to the competitiveness with which they operate, while at the country level, the influence it has on long-term economic growth and relationship that is so close to economic development and the well-being of the population. Studies are presented that show how innovation has given the nature of sustainability to the productive units at any level of aggregation. The importance of innovation stands out due to the benefits it brings, however, these have not been generalized worldwide, that is why the document discusses the gaps between compa-nies and between nations and the implications this brings with it. not only within them but in relation to the global context. In a topic that occupies the interest of both developed and developing countries, the role of international organizations in offering a theoretical and conceptual platform, as well as ma-king a statistical database available, is highlighted. It allows to deepen the study of innovation.
